Indie Publishing Handbook Four Key Elements for the SelfPublisher eBook Heather Day Gilbert Reviews
A mildly interesting very brief read. Why only two stars? I bought it primarily to learn about formatting and uploading my just-finished book. Chapter Four is called, "The Tedious Part - Formatting and Uploading Your Book." The chapter tells you about the different formats you can use. And it says you can learn how to format and upload yourself, or you can hire someone to do it for you.
...that's the extent of the teaching.
For a dollar, I guess I shouldn't have expected too much. But something would have been good!
Thanks for this quick, to-the-point lowdown on the basics of "the biz." This is definitely a foundational tool for anyone thinking of independently publishing. Great job!
If you're starting out here's a very-readable and concise overview of the entire process, so that you know what to expect. Nothing complicated, nothing verbose, just one successful author's empirical experiences on the road to publishing several books. Great advice for the price.
Heather has done an awesome job at helping newbie indie authors navigate their way through the mess of self publishing. I can't thank her enough for taking the time to put together this book. This book is full of useful and practical info.
I highly recommend purchasing it! It's golden.
I'm so happy that Heather decided to share her wisdom about publishing by writing a book. There are many How-to books out there, but Heather's is the best. Heather's own novels stand as examples of excellence in the Indie field, and since only excellence is going to survive the future of publishing, aspiring writers should listen to her.
This was a great resource for beginning indie authors!
She gives great resources and advice on how to accomplish your goals of being a published author, but being the "overseer" of everything surrounding your novels. It was a great overview of indie publishing in a nutshell that I needed to consider before deciding if I wanted to begin an indie writing career.
I recommend this book to anyone considering what an indie author needs to do in preparation of launching their career and the details involving it.
Talk about inside information. This book not only provides you with some pertinent information, but it is brief and to the point, so that an indie author who is already short on time will get through it quickly. It highlights 5 major key points that every indie author should know and showed a breakdown of how the author did it. There are also links to some of her recommendations so you don't have to search for what she is talking about. I really wish I had this book about a year ago and would be putting this valuable information to use.
